Farm Philly

Farm Philly connects residents to the natural world and supports the self-determination and sovereignty of communities to grow their own food. We provide programming and material support to community gardens, farms and residents located across the City.

We envision a Philadelphia that supports gardeners, farmers and residents’ ability to grow in spaces that nourish and heal their communities. At Farm Philly, we affirm Black, Indigenous, People of the Global Majority (BIPGM), queer and transgender, immigrant and refugee, poor and working class farmers doing this work.

Philadelphia Urban Agriculture Plan

In 2023, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation released the City’s first comprehensive citywide urban agriculture plan, Growing From the Root, that will guide the coordinated efforts of city, non-profit, and resident stakeholders to better protect, maintain, and expand community gardens, farms, food forests and orchards.

The Farm Philly team is excited to be launching a second round of applications to join the Community Compost Network.

Since its inception in 2019, the Community Compost Network has been supporting communities with free three-bin compost systems, expertly crafted by PowerCorpsPHL. Participants also gain access to comprehensive educational materials and hands-on and virtual training sessions facilitated by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and Farm Philly, ensuring effective management of small-scale neighborhood composting operations that are community-led.
